The St. James Jr. Canucks are saddened and devastated to announce the passing of our dear friend and equipment manager, Marc “Wanks” Wankling.

Marc was more than our equipment manager, he was a bonding agent for the team. He was a Grandfather, Father, mentor, confidant, and most importantly, a great friend.

Marc was one-of-a-kind and an extraordinary person.

He would do anything with you and for you and never ask why. He was loved by many and our organization held him to another level. He was beloved by the players, staff, and volunteers. Marc would often come early to the rink to sharpen endless pairs of skates, wash jerseys, and make numerous equipment repairs to make sure our players were ready for every game. He always did so with a smile on his face. Marc was one of the most positive people you could ever meet. Even after his son Eric graduated from our program, Marc stayed on because he enjoyed being around the guys and being part of the team. All of the players loved him.

Marc was in his 5th year as the equipment manager for the Jr. Canucks. He spent countless years volunteering in the community. From his days with Woodhaven Community Club, coaching and managing teams for St. James “AA”, and sitting on the “AA” executive, Marc did it all.

Our lives are forever changed with your passing. You will be greatly missed and never replaced.

RIP Brother.
