Gilbert takes home Rookie of the Month honours

Canucks rookie netminder Noah Gilbert’s stellar play has been recognized by the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League.

Gilbert has won Rookie of the Month for November, after posting a 4-0-0 record, .924 save percentage and 2.19 goals against average in five appearances.

His tremendous play extends past the second last month of the calendar year, however. Gilbert is 7-0-0 early into his MMJHL career and has a 2.10 goals against average and a .926 save percentage in eight appearances. In his most recent start, Gilbert stopped 25 of 26 shots against the Pembina Valley Twisters, who are first place in the league.

Gilbert is the first Canucks player to take home a monthly award this season.

The Canucks are back in action tonight (December 5) in St. Vital.
