The St. James Canucks would like to thank everyone who who supported its 5th Annual Dinner at the Blue & Gold Room on May 27th. The event was again a resounding success, thanks to the 230 people who attended, including 44 Canuck alumni! Guest Speaker David Wheeler from Power 97FM gave a meaningful, heartfelt speech which truly related to today's young hockey player. The meal was once again superb, as were the many prizes, which included televisions, a barbeque, golf clubs, and several others. Events on the night included a $1000 grand prize, which was shared by four lucky recipients, and a 50-50 draw for $490 went to Al Franklin. In addition, an inaugural $1000 Scholarship, courtesy of Rick Barron, original team captain, was awarded to current Canuck, Chad Fehr. The original 1978 St. James Canucks Team was inducted into the Canucks' Hall of Fame, with several original members being in attendance. Canuck supporter, Harold Neudorf, was also inducted into the Hall of Fame in the Worker Category. Bob King, a long-time St. James Minor Hockey volunteer, was fittingly presented with the 2010 SJMHA Outstanding Volunteer Award. Once again, the St. James Canucks thank you for your continued support. Have a great summer, and see you all in the fall!
